Line 9-inch pie pan with bottom crust. Combine granulated sugar, salt and spices. Pare and
slice apples. Arrange a layer in pie pan and sprinkle with some of the sugar mixture. Continue
until pan is full. Dot top with bits of butter. Moisten edge of crust and cover pie with top
crust. Fold top edge under bottom and press edges together. Bake in hot oven 425° F.,
35-40 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes. Blend powdered sugar, vanilla
and milk until smooth. Spread over top of pie. Serve pie warm or cold.
